Ranchi, July 8: The Adani Foundation has installed solar-powered high mast lights in four villages of Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh district under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, aiming to improve rural infrastructure and enhance public safety.
The solar lights have been installed at key public locations in Horam, Mardusoti, Pundaul and Chandaul villages under the Gondulpura Mining Project in Barkagaon block, the foundation said in a statement.
According to the statement, the lights have illuminated village squares, roads, temple premises, junctions and other community spaces that previously remained poorly lit after sunset, improving visibility and making night-time movement safer for residents.
The initiative is expected to particularly benefit women, children and elderly people by improving safety and convenience after dark, it said.
Residents welcomed the installation, saying poor lighting had long affected mobility and security during the night. The improved illumination is also expected to encourage greater use of public spaces and community interaction in the evening hours.
The lighting systems are powered by solar energy, reducing dependence on conventional electricity while promoting the use of clean and renewable energy in rural areas, the foundation said.
The Adani Foundation said the initiative is part of its efforts to strengthen rural infrastructure through sustainable and environmentally responsible solutions.
Under the Gondulpura Mining Project, the foundation has been implementing CSR programmes across Barkagaon block in areas including education, healthcare, nutrition, skill development, women’s empowerment, livelihood generation, drinking water, rural infrastructure, youth and sports development, and environmental conservation, according to the statement.
