Hyderabab July 24: India has recorded its strongest-ever performance in the QS Best Student Cities Rankings 2027, with four Indian cities featuring among the world’s top 150 student destinations. Mumbai emerged as India’s highest-ranked student city, while Delhi was recognised as the world’s most affordable city for students.

According to the latest rankings released by global higher education analytics firm Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), Mumbai climbed seven places from last year to secure the 91st position globally with an overall score of 61.8. The city also ranked 34th worldwide for employment opportunities available to graduates and 12th in the affordability category.

Delhi made its debut in the global top 100 by improving from 104th to 99th position. The national capital achieved the highest affordability score of 93.9, making it the world’s most affordable student city based on education and living costs.

Bengaluru and Chennai also featured in the rankings, securing the joint 114th and 123rd positions, respectively, reflecting India’s growing appeal as a destination for higher education.

Globally, Seoul retained its position as the world’s best student city for the second consecutive year with a perfect score of 100. Tokyo ranked second, followed by London, Melbourne, Munich and Sydney (joint fifth), Paris, Berlin, Vienna and Zurich in the top 10.

The QS Best Student Cities Rankings evaluate cities with a population of at least 250,000 and a minimum of two universities included in the QS World University Rankings. This year’s assessment covered 150 cities worldwide based on six key indicators, including university rankings, student mix, desirability, employer activity, affordability and student feedback.

The improved performance of Indian cities highlights the country’s expanding higher education ecosystem, better employment prospects, and increasing affordability, strengthening its position as an attractive destination for both domestic and international students.
