Jamshedpur, Nov 6: The XLRI Xavier School of Management has announced the launch of the Xavier Scholar Entrance Test (XSET), a national-level examination for admission to its Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) and Executive Fellow Programme in Management (EFPM), aimed at nurturing the next generation of management researchers and thought leaders.
Scheduled for January 4, 2026, the computer-based test will be conducted across 12 cities in India. The exam will evaluate candidates on their interest in management research, understanding of management concepts, logical reasoning and analytical skills, and ethical orientation, the institute said in a statement.
Candidates who score at least 50% in the XSET will qualify for the interview round, though some academic areas may require higher cut-offs. Academic background and relevant work experience will also be considered in the selection process.
“For over 75 years, XLRI has combined academic rigour with social responsibility. Our doctoral programmes are designed not just to teach but to create scholar-leaders who bring depth to practice and relevance to theory,” the statement said.
The two doctoral programmes prepare scholars for careers in academia, research-driven consulting, corporate training, and industry leadership, offering specialisations in nine areas — Economics, Finance, General Management (Entrepreneurship, Law, Ethics, Communication), Human Resource Management, Information Systems, Marketing, Production, Operations & Decision Sciences, Organisational Behaviour, and Strategy.
“Doctoral scholars across age groups and work experience come together in the intellectual melting pot that XLRI is,” said Dr. J. Ajith Kumar, Associate Dean of FPM & Research. “We believe in free knowledge flow across subject areas to foster uninhibited knowledge creation.”
Full-time doctoral candidates at XLRI receive financial aid and free hostel accommodation on the institution’s 40-acre green campus in Jamshedpur. Registration for XSET 2026 is now open. Applicants can register through XLRI’s official website for FPM-cum-XSET or EFPM-cum-XSET admissions.
