Jamshedpur, October 18: XLRI – Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur, came alive with colour, rhythm and togetherness as students, faculty and staff gathered for JALSA – The Garba Night, organised by SPICMACAY, marking the first major cultural event of the academic season.
The evening opened with an auspicious Aarti, invoking peace and harmony before giving way to a spirited celebration that blended tradition with inclusivity. Participants formed concentric Garba circles where first-time dancers and seasoned performers moved side by side, embodying the event’s emphasis on shared experience and community.
Organisers said the event was designed to go beyond celebration and foster inclusion through culture. “JALSA was not just a festival but a reflection of how community, empathy and inclusion can be built through culture. It reminded us that peace is not silence – it’s synchronized diversity,” representatives from the Associate Dean of Student Affairs (ADSA) said in a statement.
Every element of the event – from lighting to choreography – was curated to promote belonging and psychological safety, organisers said. The Garba evening turned into what many described as a “leadership metaphor,” illustrating how collaboration and empathy can create harmony amid diversity.
By hosting JALSA, XLRI reaffirmed its belief in culture as a medium of learning and leadership. The event, participants said, underscored the institution’s ethos of nurturing responsible leaders guided by integrity, compassion and collective purpose.
