HYDERABAD 21 Jan -The Telangana government on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hyderabad-based Skyroot Aerospace to establish an integrated private rocket manufacturing, integration, and testing facility in the state.
The agreement, announced at the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual conference in Davos, envisages a ₹500 crore investment from Skyroot. The facility is expected to become one of the largest in the private sector, signaling Telangana’s strategic push to position Hyderabad as a hub for space and aerospace innovation. “This agreement demonstrates how young minds in Telangana are working on cutting-edge technologies,” Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said, welcoming Skyroot’s decision to invest in the state.
Skyroot, which gained prominence for developing India’s first privately built rocket, Vikram-S, sees the partnership as a step toward aligning with Telangana’s development agenda. “We want to be part of the Telangana Rising and Hyderabad Rising vision and mission,” said Pawan Kumar Chandana, co-founder of Skyroot Aerospace. The initiative reflects Telangana’s broader commitment to fostering high-tech industries and nurturing private sector contributions to India’s burgeoning space sector.
