New Delhi, July 30 : Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Thursday accompanied President Droupadi Murmu in an interaction with representatives of Bastar’s traditional Manjhi-Chalki social institution and winners of the Bastar Pandum festival at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
According to an official statement, members of the Bastar community visited the Rashtrapati Bhavan in their traditional attire for the first time, highlighting the region’s rich cultural heritage and tribal traditions.
Sharing details of the interaction in a post on X, Shah said he had joined President Murmu in engaging with representatives of Bastar’s traditional social institutions and the winners of Bastar Pandum.

The Home Minister said the presence of Bastar residents in their traditional attire at Rashtrapati Bhavan symbolised the revival and preservation of the region’s cultural identity.
Shah said Bastar, which had once witnessed the erosion of its rich heritage, culture and traditions due to Naxal violence, is now preserving its legacy after becoming free from Left Wing Extremism.
He expressed confidence that Bastar, which is now moving steadily on the path of development, would emerge as the most developed division of Chhattisgarh in the coming years and set new benchmarks in growth and progress.
The interaction comes as the Centre continues to emphasise the preservation of tribal culture alongside development initiatives in Bastar and other tribal regions affected by Left Wing Extremism.
