New Delhi, Aug. 2 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday shared highlights of his address delivered during the launch of the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva – Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’, reiterating that India’s youth must stay away from drugs to realise their full potential and contribute to the vision of a developed nation.
In a series of posts on X, the Prime Minister said the movement, which originated from Kashi, has now transformed into a nationwide campaign aimed at making young people aware of the dangers of substance abuse and encouraging collective action against drugs.
“The welfare initiative that arose from the sacred land of Kashi has now become a national project. I am fully confident that the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva – Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’ will reach every young mind through the strength of collective participation,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister stressed that achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat requires a healthy, confident and drug-free youth population. He said young people are at the centre of India’s growth story and their energy should be channelled towards innovation, education, entrepreneurship, sports and nation-building rather than being destroyed by addiction.
Highlighting the harmful impact of narcotics, Modi warned that drugs provide only temporary pleasure while causing lasting damage to an individual’s future. “Drugs may give a temporary ‘high’, but they bring your career and family life ‘low’. Our youth must remain drug-free to protect their potential,” he said.
The Prime Minister underlined that the campaign seeks to build a mass movement involving educational institutions, youth organisations, social and spiritual groups, volunteers and communities to spread awareness about drug abuse and motivate young people to adopt healthy lifestyles.
The ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva – Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’ was launched through video conferencing and is part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen public awareness, community participation and youth engagement in the fight against drug addiction while advancing the vision of a developed India by 2047.
