New Delhi, September 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura on Sept.22 to launch and inaugurate development projects worth more than ₹5,100 crore.
In Itanagar, Modi will lay the foundation stone of two hydropower projects, the 240 MW Heo and 186 MW Tato-I, with a combined investment of over ₹3,700 crore in the Siyom sub-basin, aimed at tapping the state’s vast hydroelectric potential.
He will also launch projects worth about ₹1,290 crore covering connectivity, healthcare, fire safety and women’s welfare, and lay the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art convention centre in Tawang with capacity for over 1,500 delegates. Modi is also scheduled to meet local taxpayers, traders and industry representatives to discuss the impact of recent changes in goods and services tax (GST) rates.
Later in the day, Modi will travel to Tripura to inaugurate the redeveloped Mata Tripura Sundari Temple Complex in Udaipur town under the federal government’s PRASAD scheme, which promotes pilgrimage tourism. The project includes upgraded pathways, renovated entrances, a drainage system and a new three-storey complex with stalls, guest facilities and a meditation hall.
The government said the temple project would boost tourism, create jobs and support socio-economic growth in the northeastern state.
