Kohima, Dec 24: The Governor of Nagaland has appointed A Piteho Chophy as the Chairman of the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC), with effect from the date he assumes charge, officials said on Sunday.
According to a notification issued by the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department (Personnel ‘B’ Branch) on December 22, the appointment was made in exercise of the powers conferred under Clause (1) of Article 316 of the Constitution of India, read with Regulation 3 of the Nagaland Public Service Commission (Chairman, Members and Staff) Regulations, 2008.
The notification stated that Chophy will hold office for a term of six years or until he attains the age of 62 years, whichever is earlier.
His salary and service conditions will be governed by Regulation 4 of the Nagaland Public Service Commission (Chairman, Members and Staff) Regulations, 2008, along with other allowances as admissible from time to time.
The notification was issued by Chief Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen. In a separate notification issued on the same day, the Governor also appointed three Members to the NPSC for a tenure of six years or until they attain the age of 62 years, whichever is earlier, with effect from the date they assume charge.
The newly appointed Members are Shri Kenilo Apon (retired IAS officer), Athel O Lotha (retired IAS officer), and S Temsuwati Angh.
The notification further stated that the salary and service conditions of the Members will also be governed by Regulation 4 of the Nagaland Public Service Commission (Chairman, Members and Staff) Regulations, 2008, along with other allowances as admissible from time to time.
