New Delhi, Aug 1: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is expected to begin the counselling process for undergraduate MBBS admissions under the 15 per cent All India Quota (AIQ) this week, with preparations underway for the centralised admission process.The detailed counselling schedule is likely to be announced by August 7.
Following the completion of counselling and seat allotment, selected candidates will be required to complete admission and enrolment formalities at their allotted medical colleges.Under the All India Quota system, 15 per cent of seats in government medical colleges across the country are filled through centralised counselling conducted by the MCC.
The remaining 85 per cent seats are generally allotted through counselling conducted by the respective state authorities.According to the available seat data, India has a total of 63,296 MBBS seats in government medical colleges.
Of these, 9,494 seats are expected to be offered through the 15 per cent All India Quota counselling process this year.In Bihar, government medical colleges have a total of 1,710 MBBS seats. Around 256 seats will be available under the All India Quota and will be filled through the MCC’s centralised counselling process. The remaining seats will be allotted through the state counselling mechanism.
If seats offered under the All India Quota remain vacant after the prescribed rounds of counselling, they may be transferred to the respective state quota in accordance with the applicable counselling rules and procedures.The MCC has also reviewed arrangements related to the counselling timetable, digital systems, cybersecurity and coordination with participating medical colleges to ensure the smooth conduct of the admission process.
The expansion of MBBS seat capacity in government medical colleges is expected to provide more opportunities to eligible candidates seeking admission during the current academic session.
Candidates have been advised to keep track of official MCC announcements and remain prepared with the required documents for registration, choice filling, seat allotment and admission procedures.
