Ranchi, Aug. 6: The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has approved a ₹43.25-crore sanitation infrastructure project under the Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 to expand access to clean and accessible toilet facilities across the city, officials said on Wednesday.
The initiative aims to strengthen sanitation infrastructure in different wards through the construction of multiple categories of toilets, including 250 individual household toilets, 150 community toilets, 65 public toilets, 20 aspirational toilets and 362 unit toilets.
The project was reviewed at a meeting chaired by Municipal Commissioner Sushant Gaurav, attended by senior officials of the civic body. Discussions focused on identifying suitable locations for the proposed facilities, ensuring the availability of essential infrastructure and preparing a time-bound implementation roadmap.
During the meeting, the Municipal Commissioner directed officials to immediately prepare site-specific designs and expedite the tendering process so that construction work can commence without delay.
Gaurav also instructed officials to complete inspections of all proposed construction sites by August 15 to ensure the project progresses as scheduled.
“Clean and accessible toilets are not merely a facility but an important matter linked to citizens’ health, dignity and the identity of a clean city,” Gaurav said during the meeting.
Emphasising timely execution, he added, “All work must be completed within the stipulated timeframe.”
The RMC said the initiative is expected to improve sanitation coverage, promote public health and reinforce Ranchi’s cleanliness infrastructure as part of the Centre’s Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0.
