Ranchi, Aug. 6: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has intensified its focus on safeguarding coal-producing regions in Jharkhand, with senior officers reviewing security preparedness and strategies to curb illegal coal-related activities during a two-day meeting held in Ranchi.

The review meeting, chaired by CISF Additional Director General (ADG) Sudhir Kumar, assessed the operational readiness of CISF units, security arrangements at key coal installations and the overall security scenario in coalfields across Bihar and Jharkhand.

The discussions centred on strengthening security at sensitive coal production and transportation facilities, improving the use of intelligence inputs, enhancing coordination among CISF units and adopting modern security strategies to check illegal activities in the coal sector.

Officials also reviewed recent developments under the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) (MMDR) Act and discussed their implications for security management in coal-bearing regions.

Addressing senior officers, Kumar stressed the importance of maintaining the highest level of vigilance at strategically important installations.

“There should be no laxity in the security of installations of national importance,” the ADG said.

Highlighting the evolving nature of security threats, he added, “Given the evolving security challenges, the CISF must continuously strengthen its operational capability, technical efficiency and rapid response systems.”

The meeting was attended by Inspector General Prabodh Chandra, Deputy Inspector Generals Sumant Singh, Jitendra Kumar Tiwari, Praneet Chandra, Amit Mathur and Rajeev Mishra, along with unit commanders and senior officials representing CISF units across Bihar and Jharkhand.

The review is part of the CISF’s ongoing efforts to bolster security infrastructure, improve operational coordination and strengthen enforcement measures in coal-producing regions that are vulnerable to illegal mining and transportation activities.
