Ranchi, Oct 12: The National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, organised a five-day Youth Empowerment and Skills (YES!) programme from October 5 to 9 to promote students’ mental well-being, leadership, communication and personality development.

The programme was conducted by the Jharkhand State Faculty Development Academy under the Department of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Jharkhand, in collaboration with NUSRL.

The initiative focused on stress management, self-awareness, confidence-building, teamwork, innovation, problem-solving and emotional well-being, alongside students’ academic development.

Riya Tayal, an instructor from The Art of Living, conducted sessions using yoga, breathing techniques or kriyas, interactive games and experiential exercises. The activities aimed to improve concentration, encourage positive thinking, strengthen communication skills and help students manage everyday challenges.

Participants said the programme helped them understand themselves better, develop healthier routines and adopt a positive approach towards challenges.

Supriya, a BA LLB student at NUSRL, described the programme as a valuable experience, saying the breathing techniques had a calming effect on her mind. She also highlighted the benefits of interacting with fellow participants.

Kumari Ananya, a student of the BA LLB 2026-31 batch, said the sessions encouraged her to work with greater concentration, live in the present and learn from failures. She also emphasised the importance of constructive feedback and attentive listening.

Prithvi Raj, a first-year BA LLB student, said the programme offered useful insights into stress reduction, sleep habits and avoiding unnecessary overthinking. He also highlighted the importance of living in the present, maintaining maturity in relationships and listening carefully before responding.

The programme provided students with an opportunity to reflect on their behaviour, habits and lifestyles while learning practical ways to balance their personal and academic lives.

The initiative underscored the importance of integrating mental, emotional and social development into higher education.
