Ranchi, July 26: The Jharkhand government has granted major relief to two Jharkhand Administrative Service (JAS) officers by withdrawing earlier disciplinary actions against them, including revoking the suspension of Sanjeev Kumar Lal, former personal assistant to ex-state minister Alamgir Alam, following judicial relief.
The Department of Personnel has issued a notification revoking the suspension of Sanjeev Kumar Lal and accepted his rejoining with effect from May 15, 2026, in compliance with a court order.
Lal had been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and was sent to judicial custody. After securing bail in May this year, he rejoined the Department of Personnel, following which the department formally reinstated him through an official resolution.
In a separate decision, the state government also revoked all disciplinary penalties imposed on Jharkhand Administrative Service officer Jitendra Kumar Munda, who had served as the Zonal Officer of Chanho Zone.
Munda had earlier been accused of violating the Scheduled Area Regulation (SAR) by allegedly granting land to Suleman and others in contravention of prescribed rules. His departmental appeal against the action had been rejected, and he was penalised with the withholding of two annual increments without cumulative effect.
Subsequently, Munda challenged the departmental action before a court and obtained relief. Acting on the court’s decision, the Department of Personnel cancelled all previous disciplinary instructions and penalties imposed against him.
The twin decisions mark a significant administrative development, with the state government implementing court-directed relief in both cases through separate notifications issued by the Department of Personnel.
No official statement was issued by the government regarding the decisions, and the notifications were released in compliance with the respective court orders.
