Ranchi, November 10: The impact of cold weather has been increasing steadily across Jharkhand, with temperatures falling sharply in several parts of the state.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued a yellow alert for North West districts like Palamu, Garhwa, Chatra, and Latehar districts. It has warned of possible cold wave conditions on November 10 and 11 in these districts.
In the state capital Ranchi, the minimum temperature has dropped by nearly six degrees in just past three days. The minimum temperature on November 6 was 15.6°C, which fell to 11.8°C on Sunday (Nov 9).

The sudden fall in temperature, along with cool winds and fog, has made mornings and nights significantly colder in and around Ranchi. Meanwhile, similar conditions have been reported from nearby districts like Lohardaga, Gumla, Khunti and Simdega.
As per the IMD, temperatures may fall further by 2–3 degrees over the next 48 hours. Ranchi’s minimum temperature could drop below 10°C, while other districts may see lows between 10°C and 15°C.
Due to the sudden fall in temperature, health experts have warned of an increase in cases of flu, nasal congestion, and frostbite.
The IMD has said that cold winds from the Himalayan region will continue to affect entire Jharkhand with no relief is expected soon.
