Ranchi, June 29: Jharkhand is experiencing intense monsoon rains with multiple districts under heavy rainfall warnings. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has taken proactive measures, instructing the Disaster Management Department, district administrations, meteorological agencies, and other authorities to maintain constant coordination and remain on high alert to ensure public safety.
The Meteorological Department has issued orange alerts for Ranchi, Khunti, Saraikela-Kharsawan, and East and West Singhbhum, while yellow alerts cover Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Koderma, Hazaribagh, Latehar, Lohardaga, Ramgarh, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Gumla, and Simdega. The weather is driven by a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal combined with cyclonic circulation.
Recent rains have caused significant disruptions, including the collapse of Kutmu bridge in Latehar and flooding in Betla National Park, stranding tourists. Ranchi has recorded 552.2 mm of rainfall, 207% above normal levels.
CM Soren has emphasized the importance of swift action and ordered all departments to work together in rescue and relief operations. Residents are urged to stay vigilant, avoid riverbanks and water bodies, and strictly follow weather advisories as heavy rains are expected to continue through early July.
