Ranchi, September 18: Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan will reach Ranchi on Thursday afternoon.
His visit comes on the eve of East Tech 2025, the three-day defence expo being held at the Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium in Khelgaon from September 19 to 21. Chauhan is scheduled to land at Birsa Munda Airport around 3 pm.
Earlier on Tuesday, Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth and Major General Sajjan Singh Mann called on Chief Minister Hemant Soren at his residence. They briefed him about the upcoming expo and extended a formal invitation to attend the inaugural session as chief guest.
Notably, the state capital is set to host its maiden defence exposition, EastTech 2025, at the Khelgaon Sports Complex. It will be the first time when Jharkhand will be organising a defence-focused event of such scale, aimed at positioning the state as an emerging hub for the sector.

Originally planned for September 17–19, the event was later rescheduled, though officials did not disclosed the reason for the change.
Besides Chauhan, Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Eastern Army Commander Lt Gen RC Tiwari will also attend the opening day of the expo.
The mega showcase will bring together leading defence manufacturers, startups, academic institutions, MSMEs, and local entrepreneurs. Cutting-edge technologies, including innovations developed by Indian startups, will be on display.
Seth, also the Ranchi MP, who had earlier described EastTech 2025 as a “turning point” for Jharkhand’s industrial landscape, had said the expo will offer the state a golden opportunity to create a strong image in the defence sector.
