Ranchi, June 20: The state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren has given nod for Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC), which will now conduct graduate-level competitive exams in two phases.

The cabinet meeting approved a total of 26 proposals.

Earlier in 2021, it was decided that if applications were fewer than 50,000, the exam would be held by JSSC in a single phase; however, the new process mandates two phases regardless.

The cabinet also approved awarding police medals for commendable service to personnel ranging from constables to GP level employees.

Previously, these medals were exclusively given to police officers. The number of Distinguished Service medals has increased from 10 to 21, while police medals have gone up from 31 to 60.

Additionally, amendments to the Jharkhand State Medical Council rules were approved, including a revision of fees. Registration fees will now be ₹2,000 instead of ₹1,000, and renewal fees have been set at ₹1,000.

The cabinet gave approval for the construction of two four-lane roads in Ranchi. An approximately 8-kilometer four-lane road will be built from Shaheed Maidan via Vivekananda School to Ring Road at an estimated cost of ₹301 crore. Another 6.17-kilometer stretch from Argoda Chowk to Punadaga via Ring Road will be constructed at a cost of ₹141 crore.

Lastly, officers in the Secretariat’s branch officer cadre will receive a monthly mobile recharge allowance of ₹500 and an additional allowance of ₹25,000 to purchase mobile phones.
