Bird hit flight makes emergency landing

Ranchi, June 2: A major flight tragedy was averted after a bird hit Indigo flight managed to land safely at Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi on Monday.

The lives of 180 passengers on board the Indigo flight from Patna to Ranchi was in danger after a bird hit the flight. The plane (6E6902) had to make an emergency landing in Ranchi.

Officials informed that possibly a vulture hit the plane, the plane circled around Birsa Munda Airport for 35 minutes. Then the pilot made an emergency landing safely at Ranchi Airport.

IndiGo officials said that the IndiGo aircraft was flying at an altitude of about 4,000 feet. During this time, a vulture collided with the plane. Due to this, the plane was damaged. At the time when the vulture hit the plane, the plane was about 10 to 12 nautical miles away from Ranchi. The plane was at an altitude of 3,000 to 4,000 feet.

After the vulture hit the plane, the pilot of the plane asked for permission for an emergency landing and the plane landed safely at Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi.

Birsa Munda Airport director R. R Maurya said that all the passengers are safe. The plane has suffered some damage after the vulture hit it. Engineers are assessing it. He said that the incident happened at 1:14 pm in the afternoon. Another official said that this plane coming from Patna to Ranchi was to go to Kolkata.

This Indigo plane took off from Patna with a delay of about an hour. There were 180 passengers, four crew members and two pilots in the plane.
