New Delhi Dec 13: IndiGo Board has approved the appointment of Chief Aviation Advisors LLC led by veteran aviation expert Captain John Illson to conduct an independent expert review and root cause analysis of the recent flight disruptions faced by the airline
A company spokesperson said on Friday The decision was taken on December 12 and follows a recommendation of the Crisis Management Group (CMG) constituted by the IndiGo Board to assess the operational crisis
The spokesperson said. “The Board has approved the appointment of Chief Aviation Advisors LLC, led by Captain John Illson, to conduct an independent expert review and root cause analysis of the recent operational disruption” adding that the objective is to identify the contributing factors as well as opportunities for improvement.
With the Board approval now in place the review will begin at the earliest and the independent expert reviewer will submit a comprehensive report to the Board upon completion the airline said.
Captain Illson brings more than four decades of experience in the aviation sector with exposure to global aviation bodies such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) besides major global carriers. With an illustrious track record in global air transport he brings extensive expertise in global aviation strategy customised consulting safety leadership setting international standards and new aircraft technologies.
IndiGo, which accounts for about 60 per cent of India civil aviation market has been grappling with major flight disruptions since December 2, primarily due to pilot unavailability and changes in labour laws affecting the industry.
