BHUJ, May 27 – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday urged the people of Pakistan to reject terrorism, warning that continued support for militant activities would draw strong retaliation from India. The remarks came during a public rally in Bhuj, Gujarat, near the Pakistan border, as Modi marked 11 years in office.

Speaking publicly for the first time since Operation Sindoor—India’s military response to the April 22 terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam—Modi accused Pakistan of using terrorism as a tool of state policy and a source of income.

“India believes in tourism, but Pakistan considers terrorism as tourism,” Modi said, calling this mindset a threat to global peace. “Terrorism is a way of making money for your (Pakistan) government and Army,” he added, directly addressing Pakistanis.

He urged Pakistan’s citizens to oppose terrorism and embrace peace. “Live a happy and peaceful life and have your meal. Otherwise, my bullet is there for you,” Modi warned, in one of his sharpest statements yet aimed across the border.

Modi recounted that after the Pahalgam attack, he gave Islamabad 15 days to act against terrorism. But after an attempted attack by Pakistan on Indian civilians on May 9, he said, India retaliated with force, targeting Pakistani air bases.

The rally in Bhuj also served as a platform for the prime minister to promote India’s growing economic stature. “Today, India is the world’s fourth-largest economy, surpassing Japan,” Modi said. “What has Pakistan achieved? Those who promoted terrorism ruined your future.”

Modi was in Gujarat to launch infrastructure and development projects worth over ₹50,000 crore. His speech struck a nationalist tone, reaffirming a zero-tolerance policy towards cross-border terrorism. Pakistan has yet to respond officially to Modi’s latest remarks.
