Abu Dhabi/New Delhi, March 4: India’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Deepak Mittal, has reassured the Indian community in the UAE of the Government of India’s full support amid rising tensions in West Asia, urging them to remain calm, vigilant and avoid spreading rumours.
In a message to the large Indian diaspora in the UAE, Mittal said New Delhi is closely monitoring the evolving regional situation over the past 48 hours and attaches the highest importance to the safety and well-being of Indian nationals in the region.
“I want to assure you that the Government of India attaches very high importance to safety, security and the well-being of Indian nationals across the region and in the UAE,” he said.
Highlighting high-level diplomatic engagement, Mittal noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had spoken with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, while External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had been in touch with UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan regarding the situation.
He said India had thanked the UAE leadership for its prompt and effective measures to ensure the safety of residents, including the large Indian community living in the Gulf nation.
The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate in Dubai are operating 24/7 helplines and email services to assist Indian nationals, with officials working round the clock to provide support.
Amid disruptions caused by airspace closures and flight suspensions in the region, the ambassador said the mission was in close contact with airlines and authorities to address the concerns of affected passengers.
“Those who are affected due to flight restrictions, we are closely in contact with airlines and authorities on the matter,” Mittal said.
He also cautioned community members against circulating unverified information on social media and advised them to rely only on official embassy channels and UAE authorities for accurate updates.
“Please do not fall prey to any rumours or unverified information. Act responsibly on social media and do not spread unverified information,” he said.
The ambassador also said that authorities would soon provide updates regarding CBSE examinations for students in the region.
Concluding his message, Mittal urged the Indian community to remain composed and alert during the ongoing crisis.
“Stay safe, stay calm, stay vigilant. We are with you. Jai Hind,” he said.
