Ranchi, Aug 24: The Jharkhand Flying Institute is set to begin training for air hostesses, flight stewards and ground crew from next month, with the selection interview process for its Diploma in Aviation and Management course having been completed, officials said.

The institute, functioning under the state’s Civil Aviation Department, conducted interviews for prospective candidates as part of the admission process.Officials said applicants were assessed on their educational qualifications, communication abilities, English proficiency, confidence, personality and interest in the aviation sector. The selection process was conducted according to prescribed criteria, they said.

Jharkhand Flying Institute Managing Director Captain S P Sinha said the expansion of the aviation sector in the country was creating new employment opportunities and the institute aimed to equip young people from the state with industry-oriented skills.

The training will focus not only on academic knowledge but also on professional communication, discipline, personality development and practical skills required in the aviation industry, Sinha said. Those trained under the programme could explore career opportunities in areas such as airline cabin services, airport operations, ground handling, passenger services and aviation hospitality, officials said.

The institute has already started training for the Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), and the new programme will expand its aviation-related courses to include cabin crew and ground operations.

The first list of candidates selected after the interview process is likely to be published on the Jharkhand Flying Institute’s official website in the last week of August, officials said.Further details regarding admission and the training schedule will be communicated to selected candidates through the prescribed channels, they added.
