Ranchi, April 18 : The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Jharkhand, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy rainfall across the state over the next 72 hours.
Weather conditions are expected to remain unstable and cool until April 22, with strong winds likely to impact at least 18 districts, including Ranchi. The IMD has advised residents to exercise caution and remain indoors during periods of intense weather activity.
“Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds are expected to continue for the next three days,” the IMD said in its bulletin on Thursday. “The public is advised to take necessary precautions and avoid open areas during stormy conditions.”
The forecast comes amid a broader pattern of pre-monsoon activity across eastern India, where similar alerts have been issued in neighbouring states.
Meteorologists say the current spell of wet weather may help bring relief from rising temperatures, but could also disrupt local transport and power supply.
The IMD continues to monitor the situation closely and is expected to update its forecast based on evolving atmospheric conditions.
