Bengaluru, Dec 29: In a gesture of creativity and inclusion, Healing Garden organized a recreational workshop for 50 girls with disabilities at Cheshire Homes, Bengaluru, on December 29, 2024. The event, held during the festive season, aimed to spread joy and provide a hands-on creative experience for the residents of the NGO, located on HAL Road.
The workshop invited the girls to create pressed flower candle holders, combining artistry and nature. With the guidance of volunteer artists and coordinators, participants crafted their own candle holders using natural pressed flowers. The activity, designed to be inclusive, ensured that children with varying disabilities—ranging from mobility challenges to speech impairments—could take part and enjoy the experience.

“I am so happy to make this candle holder and I will keep it safely on my table,” said Varsha, one of the participants, beaming with pride. Another participant, Pushpa, likened the activity to the spirit of Diwali, said: “Creating this candle holder feels just like Diwali—it fills my heart with warmth and light!”
The event was equally appreciated by staff at Cheshire Homes. Center manager Padma remarked, “This is such a wonderful initiative. We’re so grateful that our girls were engaged in such a joyful activity during the year-end holidays.”
Healing Garden’s founder, Saloni Kumar, emphasized the organization’s vision of empowering underprivileged children through workshops centered around nature and creativity. “We received heartfelt gratitude from the girls during the workshop, and many volunteers traveled long distances to participate. Our goal of brightening their holiday was achieved to some extent. We did our part and hope to continue making a difference in the future,” she said.
Looking ahead, Healing Garden plans to expand its efforts by hosting similar events across Bangalore, with a focus on activities related to nature, gardening, and life coaching. The organization is seeking corporate sponsorships to extend these impactful workshops to more NGOs.
This thoughtful initiative highlights the power of small acts of creativity to foster joy, self-expression, and connection, making the holiday season brighter for all involved.
