Ranchi, September 4: Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Friday attended the Janmashtami celebrations at the Shri Madanmohan Temple in Bodeya here and stressed the need to preserve the state’s historical, cultural and spiritual heritage.
Addressing devotees at the festival, Gangwar said the temple was not only a place of religious significance but also an important part of Jharkhand’s historical and cultural legacy.The temple, built in 1665, has inscriptions and copper-plate records associated with it, which highlight its historical importance, he said.
Referring to the teachings of Lord Krishna, the Governor said his life inspires people to remain committed to truth, righteousness and wisdom even in difficult circumstances.He said the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, particularly the message of performing one’s duty without being driven by the outcome, continue to hold relevance in contemporary life.
During the programme, Gangwar released a devotional work titled ‘Shri Madanmohan Swami Stuti’. He described the publication as an effort to preserve religious traditions and pass them on to future generations.
The Governor also called for greater involvement of young people in protecting cultural heritage. He said the younger generation should be encouraged to learn about the state’s history, ancient temples, folk traditions and cultural practices.”Jharkhand is known not only for its natural resources but also for its rich cultural and spiritual heritage,” he said, underlining the need for collective efforts to protect and promote it.
Gangwar urged people to draw inspiration from Lord Krishna’s teachings and contribute to society by following the values of truth, harmony, love and duty.
Earlier, the Governor offered prayers at the temple and wished for peace, prosperity, happiness and well-being for all.Rajya Sabha MP Aditya Sahu, former Union ministers Ashwini Choubey and Sudarshan Bhagat, former MPs Rabindra Kumar Pandey and Sameer Oraon, besides several other dignitaries and devotees, attended the programme.
