New Delhi, March 25: Dhurandhar: The Revenge, directed by Aditya Dhar, continues its impressive run at the global box office, crossing ₹800 crore within days of its March 19 release and inching towards the ₹1,000 crore milestone. The sequel builds on the massive success of its predecessor, which had reportedly earned over ₹1,300 crore worldwide.

Amid the film’s commercial success, one of its key shooting locations — The Lawrence School, Sanawar — has drawn significant attention for its rich legacy and cinematic appeal. Nestled in the hills of Himachal Pradesh, the historic institution served as a major backdrop for both the original film and its sequel, including a three-day shoot during the first installment.

The film features a star-studded cast including Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna and Sara Arjun. During the shoot, Ranveer Singh interacted with students on campus, while Yami Gautam also visited the school along with the director.

The location holds special significance as Sanjay Dutt, who plays Chaudhary SP Aslam in the film, is an alumnus of the institution. His association adds a personal dimension to the film’s connection with the campus. In a previous note, Dutt had praised the school’s efforts during the pandemic, highlighting its focus on both academics and emotional support for students.

Established in 1847, The Lawrence School, Sanawar is widely regarded as Asia’s oldest co-educational boarding school. Over the decades, it has maintained strong ties with the film industry — not only as a preferred shooting destination but also as an alma mater to several prominent personalities, including Preity Zinta, Saif Ali Khan, Pooja Bedi, Shaad Ali and Iqbal Khan. Veteran figures such as Balraj Sahni, Sunil Dutt and Nargis Dutt have also been associated with the institution.

School headmaster Himmat Singh Dhillon said the campus’ distinctive blend of natural beauty and heritage architecture continues to attract filmmakers. “The unique setting of our school campus makes it a sought-after destination for the film industry,” he noted.

With its expansive grounds, colonial-era buildings and disciplined environment, the Sanawar campus offers filmmakers a rare combination of authenticity and cinematic scale, further strengthening its position on Bollywood’s filming map as Dhurandhar: The Revenge continues its successful theatrical run.
