Ranchi, July 3: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has written to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, requesting a rescheduling of the July 3 National Highway project event in Ranchi and Garhwa, citing the ill health of former Chief Minister Shibu Soren.
In a letter sent Tuesday, Soren expressed gratitude for the invitation and described the event as “significant,” but said he is currently in Delhi overseeing the medical care of his father, Dishom Guru Shibu Soren.
“Due to the ill health of Shibu Soren ji, I am presently in Delhi attending to his medical care, and regretfully, I will be unable to join the programme on the mentioned date,” Soren wrote, urging Gadkari to consider a revised schedule that would allow him to attend.
Soren added that it would have been his privilege to participate and thanked the Union Minister for his continued support.
Gadkari is scheduled to visit Jharkhand on July 3 to inaugurate two major road infrastructure projects aimed at boosting connectivity in the state. The key highlight is the dedication of the Shankha–Khajuri stretch of the Ranchi–Varanasi National Highway, known as the Garhwa Bypass, built at an estimated cost of ₹1,100 crore.
In Ranchi, Gadkari will also inaugurate the long-awaited Ratu Road flyover, intended to ease congestion along one of the capital’s busiest thoroughfares.
