New Delhi, Mar 27 : The Delhi government has issued directives to private schools, warning them against compelling parents to purchase books, writing materials, and uniforms from specific vendors or school-appointed suppliers.
The move aims to protect parents from unnecessary financial burdens and ensure transparency in the education system, the government said.
Education Minister Ashish Sood stated that private unaided schools must transparently display the list of prescribed books, educational materials, and other required items within school premises. “This information must also be prominently displayed on school notice boards and official websites. Any school failing to comply will be held accountable,” he said on Wednesday.
The Directorate of Education (DoE) has mandated nine instructions for private unaided schools. Among these, schools must upload a list of required books and uniform specifications on their official websites before the academic session begins.
Schools and principals must also ensure that students and parents are not pressured to purchase extra study materials beyond the prescribed curriculum.
The DoE will closely monitor compliance with these directives and take strict action against any violations, the government said.
