Ranchi, July 18: Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi has written to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, seeking an investigation into alleged irregularities in the functioning of the Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society (JSDMS).
In his letter, Marandi alleged that documents available to him point to serious financial and administrative lapses in the implementation of the skill development programme.
He claimed the alleged irregularities raise concerns over financial discipline, administrative accountability, and the government’s commitment to tackling corruption.
The BJP leader alleged that certain companies accused of submitting fake bank guarantees were initially blacklisted.
However, he claimed these firms were later removed from the blacklist despite the allegations and were paid several crores of rupees before being blacklisted again.
Marandi questioned the circumstances under which the companies were allegedly reinstated and sought a comprehensive inquiry into the matter.
He urged the Chief Minister to ensure that those found responsible are held accountable if any violations are established.
He also stressed the importance of transparency and accountability in skill development initiatives, stating that such programmes are crucial for creating employment opportunities for the state’s youth.
The Jharkhand government had not issued an official response to the allegations at the time of filing this report.
