Patna, July 26: A fresh political controversy has erupted in Bihar over the alleged encounter of Bharat Tiwari in Bhojpur district, with the issue triggering a political face-off between Purnia MP Pappu Yadav and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav.

Describing the incident as a matter of public concern rather than an isolated family tragedy, Pappu Yadav said the alleged encounter had raised serious questions about justice and the law-and-order situation in the state.

“This is not just a matter of one family, but has become a very serious issue related to justice and law and order in the entire Bihar,” the MP said.

Paying tribute to Bharat Tiwari, Yadav said he was known for extending help to the poor and the underprivileged during his lifetime. He expressed concern over the condition of Tiwari’s family following his death.

“When Bharat Tiwari was alive, he always helped the poor and needy, but today his family itself is facing hardship,” he said.

The Purnia MP appealed to people to uphold Bharat Tiwari’s social ideals by extending support to poor and flood-affected families struggling for food and other basic necessities.

“We should carry forward Bharat Tiwari’s social ideology and help poor families struggling with food and other necessities in flood-affected areas,” Yadav said.

Assuring support to the bereaved family, he added, “The affected family will not be left alone and will receive all possible assistance.”

The alleged encounter has emerged as a new flashpoint in Bihar politics, intensifying the political contest between Pappu Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav over issues of governance and justice.

In a separate political development, the report noted that RJD leader Mrityunjay Tiwari has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a move seen as a setback for the opposition party.

The state government and police have not issued any official response to the allegations surrounding the alleged encounter at the time of filing this report.
