Chennai, August 28: An advocate in Tamil Nadu has lodged a police complaint against actor-turned-politician Vijay, accusing him of making disparaging remarks about Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and of the rough handling of a party supporter by his security guards, police said on Sunday.
C. Sivasagar, 41, a resident of Thiruthuraipoondi in Tiruvarur district, filed the complaint on Aug. 24, alleging that the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founder used language that lowered the image of the chief minister in public.
He also alleged that Vijay’s bodyguards forcibly pushed a TVK sympathiser off the ramp when the supporter attempted to greet the party leader during an event.
The complainant requested police to register a First Information Report (FIR) against Vijay. Authorities confirmed that the petition had been received but did not say whether a case had been registered.
Vijay, one of Tamil Nadu’s most popular actors, launched his political party earlier this year, setting the stage for his debut in state politics ahead of the 2026 assembly elections.
