New Delhi, Aug 19: Three people were killed and three others were seriously injured after a CNG cylinder fitted in a truck exploded at a fuel station near Tikri Kalan Metro Station in Delhi on Wednesday, officials said.The explosion occurred while CNG was being filled into the truck’s cylinder.
The three deceased were reportedly workers at the CNG station.One of the victims was identified as 25-year-old Manish, a resident of Baba Haridas Colony in West Delhi. Officials said he was involved in the refuelling operation when the cylinder exploded and died at the spot.Two other workers who were injured in the blast later succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital.Three other people sustained injuries in the incident and were rushed to a nearby hospital.
Their condition was reported to be serious.The Delhi Fire Service received an emergency call about the explosion at around 3:37 pm. Six fire tenders were sent to the site, while police and fire personnel carried out precautionary measures in the area.The blast caused panic among people in the vicinity, but the situation was subsequently brought under control, officials said.
The exact reason behind the explosion has not yet been determined. Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the blast.Further details regarding the injured and the investigation are awaited.
