Giridih, September 4: A 16-year-old boy from Bihar was allegedly murdered in Giridih district of Jharkhand, with police detaining five people, including a teenage girl and her parents, in connection with the case, officials said.
The deceased was identified as Mithun Kumar Das alias Karu, a resident of Moriadih village in Jamui district of Bihar.According to police, the boy had allegedly been in a relationship with a 17-year-old girl from Pahadpur village for more than a year.
He had travelled to the village after the girl reportedly called him to meet her.Police recovered the boy’s dismembered body parts from an area near the girl’s house in Pahadpur village, which falls under the Begabad police station limits, officials said.
Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer Jitbahan Oraon said five people, including the girl and her parents, have been detained for questioning as part of the investigation.The police officer said the victim’s legs had been severed and that the body parts were allegedly buried behind the girl’s house.
Following a post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to the victim’s family.Police said the alleged relationship is being examined as a possible motive, but the exact circumstances surrounding the killing have not yet been established.
Investigators are questioning the detained individuals and examining available evidence to determine the sequence of events and identify those responsible for the crime.
Officials said further arrests would be made after the investigation establishes the role of those involved.The investigation is currently underway.
