Ranchi, April 22: Jharkhand is set to experience a severe heat wave starting April 23, with temperatures expected to soar by 3-4°C across the state. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the entire state, warning of the ongoing heat wave that is expected to persist until April 26.
The scorching heat, already noticeable in various districts, including the state capital Ranchi, will intensify over the next few days. The northeast region of the state is expected to feel the widespread effects, with clear and dry weather conditions forecasted during this period. The afternoon hours are likely to be particularly challenging for residents, as humidity combined with high temperatures could make it difficult for people to venture outdoors.
As the heat wave progresses, the weather will begin to shift on April 27, offering much-needed relief. According to the Meteorological Department, cloudy skies will take over the state, with light rain and thunderstorms forecasted to occur in several districts. This change is expected to bring cooler temperatures and ease the harsh conditions that have affected residents for several days.
In the last 24 hours, Medininagar in Palamu district recorded the highest temperature in the state at 43.6°C, while Ranchi saw a maximum temperature of 38.6°C. Latehar reported the lowest temperature at 33.7°C.
The current heat wave has created a considerable impact, particularly in Ranchi and other districts, where residents are finding it challenging to cope with the intense heat. The combination of high temperatures and humidity is causing discomfort, with people avoiding outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours.
The Meteorological Department has urged the public to take necessary precautions during this period, particularly between April 23 and April 26, as temperatures are expected to remain high. The department has also assured the public that the weather will improve after April 26, with rain providing much-needed relief.
