New Delhi, October 14: A Delhi court on Monday framed corruption charges against former Indian Railways Minister and RJD leader Lalu Prasad in the alleged land-for-jobs scam, while his wife Rabri Devi and son Tejashwi Yadav were charged with cheating and criminal conspiracy in the case.

The case originates from a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) FIR filed in May 2022. According to the CBI, several unqualified individuals, including some who could not even write their names, were given Group-D jobs in the Indian Railways between 2004 and 2009 under pressure from the Railway Ministry, then headed by Prasad.

The CBI further alleged that the beneficiaries of these appointments gifted or transferred land parcels to Prasad, his family members, and associates. The appointments were made in the West Central Railway Zone in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, according to court documents.

The framing of charges is the latest development in a long-running investigation into the alleged misuse of public office for personal gain by the RJD leadership. The court proceedings will continue as the accused prepare their legal defence.
