New Delhi, June 21: Air India cancelled multiple domestic and international flights on Friday (June 20), citing enhanced maintenance checks, adverse weather conditions and airspace restrictions, the airline said in a statement.
Flights affected include services connecting Dubai, Chennai, Delhi, Melbourne, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. Among the international routes cancelled were AI906 from Dubai to Chennai, AI308 from Delhi to Melbourne, AI309 from Melbourne to Delhi, and AI2204 from Dubai to Hyderabad. Domestic cancellations included AI874 from Pune to Delhi, AI456 from Ahmedabad to Delhi, AI2872 from Hyderabad to Mumbai, and AI571 from Chennai to Mumbai.
The carrier has offered full refunds or complimentary rescheduling to impacted passengers and said it is assisting travellers with alternative arrangements.
“We regret the inconvenience caused to passengers. Our colleagues on the ground are making alternative arrangements for them to fly to their respective destinations at the earliest,” the airline said, urging passengers to check their flight status online or contact customer care for updates.
Air India warned of further potential disruptions in the coming days due to ongoing aircraft inspections, weather conditions and airspace constraints. On Thursday (June 19), the airline had announced plans to reduce frequencies on several international routes and temporarily suspend operations on three routes from June 21 to July 15, as part of its operational adjustments.
