Tadepalli, June 20: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of failing to deliver on key electoral promises and resorting to “politics of repression” to divert attention from governance failures.

Speaking at a press conference at his residence in Tadepalli, Reddy said the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led government had not implemented any of the “Super Six” assurances announced by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) during the 2024 general elections.

“The people have been betrayed. Not one of the key promises—Stri Nidhi, free bus travel for women, Deepam scheme, and full rollout of Talliki Vandanam—has been implemented even a year into this government,” Reddy said.

The YSRCP chief announced that his party would soon launch a QR code-based website titled “Recalling of CBN Manifesto”, allowing the public to access a list of promises made by the Naidu-led coalition.

Reddy alleged that the Chief Minister was “intolerant of dissent” and had adopted “dictatorial” methods, including the misuse of law enforcement to silence political rivals. “Small-time individuals are coerced into giving false confessions, which are then used to frame senior YSRCP leaders in fabricated cases,” he claimed.

Citing the recent arrest of party leader Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy in a liquor-related case, Reddy said it was another example of political vendetta. He also named other leaders, including Vallabhaneni Vamsi, Dhanunjaya Reddy, and P.V. Mithun Reddy, who he claimed were being targeted similarly.

“The attacks on Sakshi media properties by TDP workers have gone unchecked. What action has the government taken?” Reddy asked.

Highlighting public support, Reddy pointed to strong turnouts during his recent visits to rural areas, including a rally in Podili and a condolence visit to Sattenapalli. “Despite curfew-like restrictions, people came out in large numbers. This reflects the growing anti-incumbency,” he said.

TDP president and Chief Minister Naidu, however, dismissed the allegations. In a counter-statement, Naidu accused Reddy of “inciting violence under the pretext of condolence visits” and violating police protocols by mobilizing large crowds in narrow streets, creating a risk of public disorder.

“The YSRCP is attempting to destabilize public peace. Law and order is a top priority for our government, and the people of Andhra Pradesh must carefully consider the kind of leadership they want,” Naidu said. Tensions between the ruling TDP and opposition YSRCP have escalated in recent weeks, with both sides accusing each other of provoking unrest and undermining democratic norms.
