Ranchi, May 21: Municipal Extension to Scheduled Areas (MESA) proposal was postponed in the meeting of Tribal Advisory Council (TAC) held at Ranchi on Wednesday.

TAC member and MLA Stephen Marandi said that even now the Schedule Area Municipal Corporation and Municipality will be bound to accept the recommendation of the elected committee.

Giving information about the other decisions, Stephen Marandi said that the decision of the Gram Sabha to open a liquor shop or bar in the tribal dominated Gram Panchayats of the scheduled area will be final.

The decision to end the compulsion of the police station in the matter of purchase and sale of land among the tribals will be taken after legal advice.

Stephen Marandi termed the reduction of the powers of the Governor by changing the rules of TAC as correct. He said that this has been done after taking legal opinion from the Advocate General.

Hemant Soren speaking to media said that TAC discussed on issues for uplift of tribals and safeguarding their rights and lands and the concerned departments have been asked to draft proposals and after going through proposals final decision will be taken.
