Patna, Sep 18: North Bihar is unlikely to get much relief from heat and humidity over the next five days, with daytime temperatures expected to touch 36 degrees Celsius in some areas, according to a joint forecast by the Rural Agricultural Weather Service Centre of Dr Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa, and the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The forecast, covering September 19 to 23, said temperatures are likely to remain above normal in most districts of North Bihar during the period.
Maximum temperatures are expected to remain between 30 and 36 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures may range from 23 to 27 degrees Celsius.
Most parts of North Bihar are likely to witness partly cloudy skies, although the overall weather is expected to remain mainly dry. Isolated areas may receive light drizzle or rain.
Relative humidity is forecast to remain high, reaching 80 to 90 per cent in the morning before declining to around 55 to 60 per cent in the afternoon. The high humidity is likely to make weather conditions feel hot and sultry.
Winds are expected to blow mainly from easterly and south-easterly directions at speeds of 8 to 12 kmph during the period.
In view of the possibility of dry weather and above-normal temperatures, agricultural scientists have advised farmers to arrange light irrigation in fields as required.
Farmers have also been advised to spray pest-control medicines on ready crops and vegetables only after assessing clear weather conditions.
The forecast is aimed at helping farmers plan agricultural activities in view of the expected weather conditions across North Bihar.
