New Delhi, Sept 18: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday met cricketer Sanju Samson and congratulated him on his association with the city, as he took up the role of brand ambassador for a skill-development centre in Moti Nagar.According to the Chief Minister, Samson has a long-standing connection with Delhi, having spent part of his early life in the national capital and started his cricket journey there.
Samson has been appointed as the brand ambassador of Jan Kaushal Kendra, Moti Nagar, by the Madan Lal Khurana Foundation. The initiative is aimed at encouraging young people to pursue skill development, employment opportunities and self-reliance.
BJP MLA Harish Khurana and representatives of the Trinity Foundation and IACT Education were also present during the meeting.Earlier in the day, Gupta received a group of young travel influencers and digital content creators from Chhattisgarh at the Delhi Secretariat.
The creators are scheduled to spend five days in the national capital, during which they will visit different places and document their experiences through digital platforms.The Chief Minister said the visit would provide the creators an opportunity to showcase different aspects of Delhi and its ongoing development through their own content.Gupta also inaugurated the Virasat Club Scheme for students of Delhi government schools.
The programme is intended to familiarise schoolchildren with the capital’s history, culture and heritage and encourage them to take an interest in its preservation.The first phase of the initiative will see Virasat Clubs established in 75 CM Shri Schools, with plans to subsequently extend the programme to other government schools in Delhi.
The Chief Minister said the objective was to ensure that students gain practical familiarity with the city’s heritage instead of learning about it only through textbooks.Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood and Tourism, Art and Culture Minister Kapil Mishra were among those present at the launch.
The activities were organised as part of programmes being highlighted by the Delhi government during the ongoing Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
