Ranchi, September 4: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) General Secretary Vinod Kumar Pandey on Friday criticised the BJP over its announcement of a 48-hour ultimatum and a phased agitation concerning student-related issues in the state.
Pandey accused the BJP of using students’ concerns for political purposes and alleged that the party was attempting to turn the dissatisfaction among youths into a political issue.
Questioning the BJP’s record on employment, the JMM leader said the party should account for the employment opportunities created for young people during its periods in power at the Centre and in Jharkhand.On the issue of cases registered against students, Pandey said BJP leaders had described them as false.
He challenged the party to present evidence supporting its claim, while maintaining that political protection should not be provided to anyone found violating the law.Pandey also rejected the BJP’s 48-hour ultimatum, describing it as an indication of political frustration and arrogance.
He said the state government would not function under pressure or according to deadlines issued by the opposition.Responding to allegations that jobs were being “sold”, Pandey asked the BJP to make public any evidence it had to support the claim.
In the absence of proof, he accused the party of making baseless allegations and misleading the public.The JMM general secretary also defended the meeting between INDIA bloc leaders and the Chief Secretary, after the BJP questioned the interaction.
He said meeting senior government officials was part of political and administrative engagement and dismissed the BJP’s criticism of the meeting.
Pandey alleged that the BJP was attempting to use student concerns to strengthen its political position.
He said protests and political pressure would not force the state government to act according to the opposition party’s demands.
The statement comes amid a political confrontation between the ruling alliance and the BJP over student-related issues and employment in Jharkhand.
