New Delhi, August 30: Three masked men allegedly broke into the residence of Congress leader Alka Lamba’s 88-year-old father in Tagore Garden, West Delhi, early Sunday morning and escaped with cash and jewellery reportedly worth lakhs of rupees, police said.
The incident took place at around 6:15 a.m. and was completed within nearly 10 minutes, according to the family. The suspects were reportedly captured on CCTV cameras installed at the residence before fleeing the area on a motorcycle.A case has been registered at the Rajouri Garden police station following the incident.
Police teams have been deployed to identify and apprehend the suspects.Investigators are examining CCTV recordings from the house as well as cameras installed at nearby locations.
Police are expected to use the footage to trace the movements of the suspects and determine the route taken by them after the alleged burglary.Alka Lamba has urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation and take swift action against those responsible.
She said the CCTV footage from her father’s residence had captured the alleged intruders and that recordings from surrounding areas could help establish their escape route.
The Congress leader also said she had shared an initial CCTV footage link with the Deputy Commissioner of Police of the North-West district.
The incident has caused concern among residents of the locality, with the family calling for stronger action to identify the alleged burglars.Police officials said the investigation is underway and that efforts are being made to identify the suspects through CCTV analysis and other available evidence.
The identity of the alleged burglars and the exact value of the stolen property have not yet been officially established.
