Patna, Aug 27: The Bihar government has decided to conduct the fourth Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-4) in a single phase, accepting a key demand raised by students, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said on Wednesday.
The decision was taken during a meeting with a delegation of students chaired by the Education Department secretary on August 27, where various demands related to competitive examinations were discussed.
“This year’s TRE-4 exam will be conducted in a single phase,” Choudhary said in a social media post.
The government also agreed to implement the “one candidate, one result” policy in accordance with the applicable rules.
Choudhary said the state government had also constituted an Expert Committee on Examination Reforms to recommend measures for improving the conduct of various competitive examinations.
“The state government has formed an ‘Expert Committee on Examination Reforms’ to suggest improvements to various examinations,” he said.
The committee will function under the chairmanship of a Patna High Court judge and will also consider complaints and grievances raised by students regarding different examinations.
The meeting also emphasised the need to ensure transparency, fairness and accountability in the conduct of competitive examinations.
Choudhary said the government had taken nine other important decisions apart from agreeing to conduct TRE-4 in a single phase, and reiterated that the administration had been serious about students’ concerns from the outset.
“The government has been serious about the students’ demands from the beginning,” he said.
Following the decisions taken at the meeting, the student delegation decided to call off its agitation.
The chief minister said the state government would continue working for the welfare of students and creating better opportunities for their future.
