Patna, Aug 3: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday said it accepted the outcome of the Bankipur Assembly by-election and would undertake a detailed review to determine the reasons behind its candidate’s performance.BJP Bihar president Sanjay Saraogi said the party respected the mandate delivered by the electorate and considered the people’s decision final in a democratic system.
“The BJP accepts the verdict with humility and respects the decision of the voters. The party will carefully examine the reasons it did not receive the expected support and take steps to address any shortcomings,” Saraogi said.He stated that the party would assess its organisational functioning and election campaign, while also studying voting trends to identify areas requiring improvement.
According to Saraogi, the review would focus on understanding possible gaps at the organisational and campaign levels and strengthening the party’s preparations for future electoral contests.
The BJP leader also said the party would not question the credibility of the electoral process following the setback. He maintained that the BJP had confidence in democratic institutions, electronic voting machines and the constitutional framework governing elections.
Saraogi said the party believed in examining its own performance and making necessary corrections rather than attributing an electoral defeat to the Election Commission or other institutions.
The Bankipur bypoll result has prompted the BJP to begin an internal assessment of its electoral strategy and local outreach as it prepares for upcoming political challenges in Bihar.
