New Delhi, July 29: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday congratulated students across the country following the passage of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha.
In a post on social media platform X, Shah said the proposed legislation would help safeguard the dreams and aspirations of young people by introducing stringent provisions against those involved in activities that compromise the fairness and integrity of public examinations.

He said the government was committed to protecting the future of students and would take strict action against individuals or groups attempting to undermine the examination system.
“The government will not spare anyone who tries to put the future of students at risk,” Shah said, adding that every effort would be made to ensure that offenders faced the full force of the law.
The amendment Bill is aimed at strengthening measures against the use of unfair means in public examinations and enhancing the transparency, credibility and security of the examination process.
The government believes that stricter legal provisions will help deter examination-related malpractice and protect the interests of candidates who participate in competitive and public examinations through fair means.
The passage of the Bill in the Lok Sabha marks a significant step in the legislative process. It will be required to complete the remaining constitutional and parliamentary procedures before becoming law.
