New Delhi, July 25: The student-led protest at Jantar Mantar is expected to continue despite reports of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, with the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) stating that its campaign will not end until its remaining demands are addressed.
Speaking to supporters, CJP chief Abhijeet Deepak described the reported resignation as a significant outcome of the movement and called it a victory for democratic protest.
However, he clarified that the organisation would continue its agitation until the government takes action on several pending issues.
Among the demands reiterated by the group are financial compensation of ₹1 crore for the families of students who allegedly died by suicide following the NEET paper leak controversy and the withdrawal of criminal cases registered against protesters during the demonstrations.
The organisation has also raised a fresh demand, seeking action against police personnel accused of using excessive force during the protests.
Deepak alleged that students were subjected to a baton charge and called for an inquiry and accountability for those responsible.
Addressing the gathering, he said the protest would remain peaceful and continue until the government responds to all of the group’s demands.
He also praised the students for maintaining their movement despite the challenges they have faced.The demonstration, which began over concerns related to examination irregularities and the handling of student protests, has entered a new phase with organisers indicating that future decisions will depend on the government’s respons.
