New Delhi, July 21: The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Tuesday dismissed claims circulating on social media regarding alleged discrepancies in NEET-UG OMR answer sheets, stating that the images being shared online are fake and digitally altered.
In an official statement, the examination agency said it had examined the viral posts claiming that some students had scored higher marks than those reflected in the declared NEET-UG results.
“The images of OMR answer sheets circulating on social media are fake and digitally altered,” the NTA said.
The agency said it verified the official records in all the cases highlighted on social media and found that the circulated answer sheets were not genuine.
“The agency examined the records in all such cases, which made it clear that the viral images were fake,” the statement said.
The NTA also clarified that every authentic NEET-UG OMR answer sheet carries unique identification details, including the candidate’s roll number, test booklet number and barcode, making it possible to verify its authenticity.
“Every candidate’s genuine OMR answer sheet has the correct roll number, test booklet number and answer sheet barcode,” the agency said.
Urging candidates and the public not to be misled by misinformation circulating on social media, the NTA advised them to rely only on official records and authentic information released by the agency regarding NEET-UG examination results and answer sheets.
