Skopje, July 21: India and North Macedonia should strengthen economic cooperation through greater investment, innovation and long-term business partnerships, President Droupadi Murmu said while addressing the India–North Macedonia Business Forum in Skopje on Tuesday.
Speaking during her official visit, President Murmu said the economic relationship between the two countries holds significant untapped potential despite steady growth in bilateral trade.
She noted that expanding investment and commercial collaboration would help unlock new opportunities for businesses on both sides.
The President highlighted sectors such as digital innovation, artificial intelligence, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, agro-processing, renewable energy and cybersecurity as key areas for future cooperation.
She also encouraged partnerships among start-ups, universities, research institutions and technology companies to promote innovation and knowledge sharing.
Calling for stronger industry engagement, Murmu urged business leaders, chambers of commerce and investment promotion agencies to identify viable projects, facilitate exchanges of business delegations and build sustainable commercial ties.
She said companies should focus on technology transfer, joint ventures, local value creation and employment generation to create long-term benefits.
The President also invited North Macedonia to participate in the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES), scheduled to be held in India next year, describing it as an opportunity to deepen cooperation in the creative and entertainment sectors.
She expressed confidence that the business forum would pave the way for new partnerships, increased investments and broader economic cooperation, further strengthening relations between India and North Macedonia.
