Chatra, July 21 : A school teacher was found dead under suspicious circumstances on the roadside in Jharkhand’s Chatra district on Tuesday, prompting police to launch an investigation while the victim’s family alleged that he was murdered.
The deceased, identified as Mukesh Yadav, was found lying beside his motorcycle near NH-22 in the Ghaghri area under the jurisdiction of Vasisthnagar Jori Police Station. Police said there were no visible signs of a road accident on either the body or the motorcycle.
Following the incident, angry villagers blocked the highway, demanding immediate arrest of those responsible and adequate compensation for the victim’s family. Administrative officials later reached the spot to persuade protesters to end the blockade.
Chatra DSP (Headquarters) Sunil Kumar Singh said the case appeared suspicious and was being investigated from all possible angles. A dog squad has been deployed, while the victim’s mobile phone is being examined to trace his recent movements.
Mukesh Yadav was serving as the vocational trade in-charge at a government high school. Police said the exact cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem examination, while questioning of local residents and forensic investigation of the crime scene are underway.
